14 miles and Goat Cheese Pear Pizza.
This morning I ran the longest I’ve ever ran, with my amazing boyfriend. We did a 14 miler and he pushed me for an average pace of 11:30. 11:29 is what we did it in
It is amazing to me how running is just as much of a mental sport as it is a physical one. There were three or 4 times I felt “emotional” during the run. That’s the only way I can describe it. Anxious, emotional, mentally done. My breathing would become heavy and it literally felt like an anxiety attack. Most of them happened during the first half. The second half I tend to do better with my positiveness since I know I’m getting closer to the goal. That’s something I really need to work on and get over. I need to be positive the entire run and not get overwhelmed with how far I have left to go.
It was the first time I took “Gu” also. The first one at mile 5 (lemon flavored) was difficult for me to get down. The texture is not pleasant. The second one was at mile 10, it was espresso flavor and much better than the first but still hard to get down. It reminded me of cake batter. Which if I hadn’t just ran 10 miles, I would be ecstatic about. I will say, they helped me A LOT! I picked up the pace shortly after I took each one.
In the end, we finished it. My legs are sore already.
This bowl of organic Cheerio type cereal with coconut milk never tasted so good. And the Big Bang Theory was never as funny. Notice: Running 14 miles, or any distance that makes your legs go numb, makes food taste better and T.V. shows become funnier….automatically.
The rest of the day was spent watching the rest of season 3 The Walking Dead, and cooking an amazing dinner.
I made THE BEST HOT WINGS! They are based of the St. Louis restaurant, Lemmons wings. Peppery, hot, and sweet.
And a Gluten Free Pizza with Caramelized Onions, Pears, and Goat Cheese drizzled with Honey. Delish.
Question: What do you guys do for sore muscles after a long run?
